Before Gifts Loft, I worked with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. KDP gave me early experience with Amazon, digital products, metadata, keywords, categories and online discovery.
A business without a warehouse
Kindle Direct Publishing was one of my earliest experiences with a platform where the product, metadata and distribution were all digital. It showed me that a listing was not simply a page: title, description, keywords, categories and presentation affected whether a product could be discovered.
That lesson would appear again years later in physical marketplaces, book ecommerce, product feeds, SEO and AI catalog work. Good data changes distribution.
The first Amazon learning curve
KDP also made Amazon feel less like a website and more like an operating environment with rules, search behavior and platform-specific workflows. Learning to work inside that environment made the move into larger Amazon marketplace operations more natural later.
In hindsight, the KDP chapter connected several parts of the later journey: books, metadata, Amazon, search, digital operations and eventually Universal Reads and book-data verification systems.
